They will charge you $35 renewal fee after 1 year or if you try to transfer it out.

have a feeling we could all make a few bucks by regging a 5L.com and reselling it on eBay. Probably not worth the time involved but I might do it anyway just for the hell of it — can’t say I’ve gotten a free domain for awhile (since the last time Register.com ran this promo).

You mean they will charge you $35 even if you are NOT renewing with them and transfer out to another registrar? Can someone clarify?

Hi IT,
That appears to be the case. I don’t use Register.com and wasn’t aware of that — very misleading advertising pretending the domain was free. You can always drop the domain if you can’t get it sold or developed as planned.
