A glimpse at the typical name you could get at each percentile:
10th percentile: QOXT.com, DRXQ.com, UHVK.com, HWVJ.com, QZDU.com, IVQX.com.
Names at the 10th percentile tend to have at least 2 bad letters or 1 bad letter and 2 semi-premiums.
25th percentile: UEQS.com, YVSC.com, VGRZ.com, FUZP.com, FQVO.com, ZXLU.com.
Names at the 25th percentile tend to have at least 2 semi-premiums, or 1 bad letter and 1 semi-premium
Median: JDZE.com, WLHU.com, ZEPB.com, VPEY.com, LRZF.com, FBEY.com Names at the 50th percentile tend to have a maximum of 2 semi-premium or 1 bad letter and 1 semi-premium. They often have only 1 bad letter and occasionally are found with only 1 semi-premium.
75th percentile: SSDU.com, YNLN.com, REBV.com, AFWB.com, LVLH.com, VVAY.com, GYYS.com, RXPY.com
Names at the 75th percentile generally do not contain a bad letter and often include only 1 semi-premium. In the event there are 2semi-premiums, it is often the result of a double letter (eg. YY in GYYS.com). Names at the 75th percentile often contain double letters and in the rare event that they do contain a bad letter, it is often the result of a common acronym (eg. RX) at the beginning of the name.
90th percentile: CGLP.com, VYYY.com, GCBL.com, PDOP.com, UJIL.com, EDIJ.com, LSAL.com, HMCT, PPRD.com, XEKI.com. Names at the 90th percentile almost never contain bad letters unless they form CVCV patterns (eg. XEKI.com). Names with semi-premiums at this level are fairly rare, with approximately half of all occurrences resulting in VCVC patterns (eg. UJIL.com, EDIJ.com).
Several hundred anti-premiums changed hands this month, mostly for between $14 and $16. Because these were primarily bulk sales between resellers, not openly advertised on any forums, and not readily available to most domainers (nor listed at TDVR), they will not be included in the analysis.
Prices remain relatively unchanged since the December 18th price guide, except in the triple premium, quad premium, and pronounceable categories, where prices have appreciated considerably. Demand this Holiday Season greatly exceeded most industry insider’s expectations, with prices not falling whatsoever on any LLLL.coms.
A small loss was noticeable at the 10th percentile, where names were down an average of $0.50 to $17.50, down from an average of $18 on December 18th, representing a loss of slightly under 3%. Anti-premiums saw their minimum wholesale value increase to $14, up from $13 on December 18th. At the 75th percentile, prices were up a whopping 15% since December18th, increasing to $84.00 from $73.00. The 90th percentile saw the largest gains, increasing to $303.00 from $220.00. This increase of 38%has been very noticeable with many quad premiums selling for $50 to$100 more than comparable names fetched even 2 weeks ago. Prices at the 90th percentile are up a full 100% since November when the 90th percentile recorded a price of $151.00.

These 228 sales brought in $224,288.50 for an average of $983.72. Median price in the $150+ category was $309.50.
*XIAN.com which sold for $40,000 has been excluded, due to the fact that it was sold not based on letters — or even end users, but because it is the name of a city in China. Geo domains will always be excluded from analysis when their value is considerably higher (as in this case) than the letters would bring in on their own. These are the names which most seriously skew results if they’re left in when they do not in fact reflect typical market prices on names of comparable quality. VSIA.com,a typo of VISA which sold for $10,000 was also excluded.
End of guide.
